How long as riesling been produced in Canada?
The first Canadian riesling was produced in 1974 and has been a staple of the
Canadian wine industry. Canada weather creates a long slow growing period that
suits the riesling grape perfectly.
Are all riesling's sweet wines?
No, while many riesling are on the sweet side the riesling grape is very
versital and makes a wide range of wines. Riesling wines can be very dry
and fruity or sweet with strong citrus notes. When looking for a riesling
ask a knowledgeable wine rep to explain the differences.
Is it true there is a Riesling Ice wine?
Yes! Canada produces 99% of the worlds ice wine. Vidal was originally the main
grape used in ice wine but now riesling is becoming more popular. Riesling ice wine
is incredibly rich and has an acidity that can support the sweetness. Do you think
that riesling ice wine is as good as it gets? Now Canada is producing riesling
sparkling ice wine, this has an amazing taste. At first the taste is rich and bubble
with notes of citrus. The finish is clean and clear as the bubbles clean your palette.

Why is riesling more 'thirst-quenching' than other white wines?
Unlike Chardonnay, Riesling doesn't undergo malolactic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation.is
known to soften and add a buttery edge to wines like Chardonnay. Riesling mantain their
natural tart and acidic traits which make it a great hot weather wine.
