Niagara Wine Tours

Taking a wine tour of Ontario's Niagara region can be a beautiful experience. There are over 100 wineries in the Niagara wine region so you will find what you are looking for. Here are some common questions about Niagara wine tours.

Where should I start my Niagara wine tour?

If you are coming from Toronto, you will be able to do a Grimsby wine tasting at Peninsula Ridge Estates. Why do a wine tasting at Peninsula Ridge Estates? Coming from Toronto it will be one of the first wineries you will pass on route to the heart of Niagara.

If you are coming from the US (New York), you will be starting near Niagara-on-the-Lake. If you are heading to downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake then stop at for a wine tasting a Lailey Vineyard. Lailey has a tiny tasting room but some of the best wines in all of Ontario. If you are crossing the bridge and heading into the back country then try a wine tasting at Ravine. The tasting room is quite large and they have a fantastic spot for getting lunch to each on the patio or plunk down a blanket on their law. Either way, both of these places are a great way to start your Niagara wine tasting.

What is the difference between a 'Niagara Wine Tasting' and a 'Niagara Wine Tour'?

A wine tasting is just that 'you only taste wine'. A wine tour can include wine tastings but it will also include a tour of the vineyard. This could include seeing the vines, the production faciltiy, the wine cellar, and maybe even their wine library.

How many Niagara wineries can I see in one day?

When you are doing a wine tour make sure to enjoy the experience versus seeing as many wineries as you can. A good guide is to plan on seeing 4-6 wineries in one day. This might seems like too few wineries but the day will fly by. Usually wineries are only open from 11am - 5pm. Also you need to plan for lunch and included driving time between wineries.

Can you recommend a company for Wine Tours leaving from Toronto?

A great tour group is iYellow Wine Club. Having attended a few of their tastings I can assure you the trip to Niagara to taste some wine will be fantastic.
