Sauterne Wines

What is unique about wines from Sauterne?

Sauternes are French desert wines that are grown in Bordeaux. All Sauternes are made from grapes that are affected with Botrytis. A fungus that remove much of the water from the grapes increasing the concentration of sweetness.

Is there a 'First Growth' Sauterne?

There is only one Premier Cru Supérieur in Sauternes, and that is Château d'Yquem.
