The Ontario's Vintners Quality Alliance gives out awards each year to restaurants
that do the best job showcasing Ontario wines. Here you will find information about
the award and a list of restaurants that won this year!
What does it mean to receive a "VQA Award"?
Ontario's VQA awards are given to the restaurants who best showcase Ontario wine.
This includes have a good breadth and depth of Ontario wines. In 2006 there were
58 winners, across Ontario, of the VQA Award of Excellance.
What is the "VQA Gold Award of Excellance" different?
Yes, to win the "VQA Gold Award of Excellance" a restaurant has to have over
75% Ontario wines on its list. There were only 16 restaurants that received the
"VQA Gold Award of Excellance" in 2006
Does British Columbia (BC) have VQA awards for resturants?
I don't know, but if I find a list I will post it here.
Can you explain the term VQA mean?
The Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) is an Appellation of Origin system by which consumers
can identify wines of Canada based on the origin of the grapes from which they are produced.
By using VQA, Canada joins other leading wine-producing countries in developing a regulatory
body that sets high standards for its wines.
